To make a new page

Type in the title of the new page (i.e. New Page, look at the Preview (button is down at the bottom of the editing window). You will see that your text now appears in red and is underlined if you hover your mouse over it. If you then save the page and click on your new page title you will go to a blank page and see the following:

"You've followed a link to a page that doesn't exist yet. To create the page, start typing in the box below (see the help page for more info)"

Once you have saved your new page it exists! Think carefully about the names of pages - it makes sense to use something that isn't too generic. So calling a page "Meetings" might mean Garden Club Meetings or Post Office Meetings - so call it "Garden Club Meetings".

However when you are editing, remember to save a page before clicking on the link. If you don't then you'll lose your work.

Links

There are 2 kinds of links - internal and external. Internal ones are just more pages on the Bradfield Parish website; external links are proper hyperlinks (like http://google.com) that go to other websites.

Internal Links

To do an internal link edit the page and type the New Page name. This will look like this New Page

If you like you can use different text to link to the same page. So the same new page gives us : the same new page. Sometimes this can really help with the flow of your writing.

Trick: Notice that this is an easy way to create a new page - just link to a page that doesn't exist and then click on it :)

External Links

To do an external link edit the page and type the New Page name. This will look like this [New Page].

Notice the space between the URL (http://www.google.com) and the text.

Pictures

To embed a picture you need to 1) upload it and then 2) Link to it.

The following produces a table with six pictures (3 x 2). Obviously you need to change the various names. Individual pictures can have titles if you put them where I have indicated. You don't need to bother with making thumbnails - the wiki does it for you. All you need is set a size as is done here.
